Check out the summer events happening Durango and Silverton!!!!

Your family’s Home Away From Home!!!! Nestled in the heart of the San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado,  There are adventures waiting for you and your family all year round! Our 1 and 2 bedroom condos, at the base of Purgatory Ski Area. make for a perfect ‘Base Camp’ for your family adventure!  There are so many things to do within an hour drive from your condo!

Skiing isn’t the only thing that happens here!

Summer the whole San Juan National Forest opens up for you and your family to explore! Right out your front door you can ride a scenic chair lift for some lovely hikes at the top of ski runs, or load a bike up and ride around on the mountain bike trails all over the ski mountain. Or you can just zip down the Alpine Slide!

 

 We’re right on the beautiful San Juan Skyway, the Million Dollar Highway one of America’s Top Ten Scenic By-Ways.  All along the way is the rich history of mining in the Southwest.  You will visit some of Colorado’s most colorful mining towns of the southwest.  Silverton, Ouray, Telluride to name a few.

Taking a ride on the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad from Durango to Silverton and spend a few hours listening to Rag-Time Piano and stroll down the infamous Blair Street, where 29 saloons and dance halls populated 4 blocks of Blair Street during the peak of Silverton’s mining history.  It’s quite a story!

It isn’t a trip to Durango if you don’t go to the Bar-D Chuckwagon for a great Ole’ Fashioned Chuckwagon Dinner!  Then season it with some good ‘ole Country music from our very own Bar-D- Wranglers!  The whole family will enjoy it!  Horseback Riding is something you and the family will enjoy!  Go to our Activities Page to see more of the local happenings and events.

And then there is the incredible Mesa Verde National Park, home of the ancient Anasazi Indians.  It is amazing how these people lived their lives and the stories they left behind.

                                                                                  At the end of your wonderful day your ‘Home’ is here for the family.  Relax and get ready for the next awesome adventure!  You don’t have to worry we, have everything you need in the kitchen!  From the Coffee Pot to a Crockpot, it’s there, even some spices!

There’s BBQ grills for dinner or you can smoke some of the fish you caught!  Play some horseshoes while dinner cooks, or in the  sandbox with the kids. Just sitting on the deck looking at rainbows is another wonderful thing to do here!

Your likely to see the Mayor of Sheol Street and his very extended family munching on the grass!   

 There is something to look at and enjoy all day long!

Oh, Did we say anything about the Hot tub?               

It’s got a nice view!! Great thing to do at the end of a busy day! You’ll feel like you’re at home and then some!
